چکیده

Methods Sixteen patients with hypertensive heart disease (LV mass index: 111 ± 18 g/m), absence of valvular regurgitation and with normal systolic function (LV ejection fraction: 67 ± 7 %) referred for cardiac catheterization were studied. Measurement of mitral flow and mitral annulus velocities were performed by Doppler and phase-contrast CMR. CMR derived global longitudinal and global volumetric SR during early peak filling was measured using long-axis cine CMR images. These data were validated by catheter based mean pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP).

Left atrial longitudinal strain by speckle tracking echocardiography correlates well with left ventricular filling pressures in patients with heart failure

BACKGROUND The combination of early transmitral inflow velocity and mitral annular tissue Doppler imaging (E/Em ratio) is widely applied to noninvasively estimate left ventricular (LV) filling pressures. However E/Em ratio has a significant gray zone and its accuracy in patients with heart failure is debated. Left atrial (LA) deformation analysis by speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) was r...

Echocardiographic Evaluation of left Ventricular Function and Geometry in Pediatric Patients with Kidney Transplantation

Extended abstract Echocardiographic Evaluation of Left Ventricular Function and Geometry in Pediatric Patients with Kidney Transplantation Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an important, leading cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) as well as in renal transplant recipients. Cardiovascular complications become more important in children because of the i...

Doppler tissue imaging: a noninvasive technique for evaluation of left ventricular relaxation and estimation of filling pressures.

OBJECTIVES This investigation was designed 1) to assess whether the early diastolic velocity of the mitral annulus (Ea) obtained with Doppler tissue imaging (DTI) behaves as a preload-independent index of left ventricular (LV) relaxation; and 2) to evaluate the relation of the mitral E/Ea ratio to LV filling pressures. BACKGROUND Recent observations suggest that Ea is an index of LV relaxatio...

CMR Estimation of Filling Pressures in Left Ventricular Hypertrophy: A Comparison with Tissue Doppler and Invasive Measurements

Introduction: Tako–Tsubo cardiomyopathy has been reported in Japan and is characterized by transient left ventricular (LV) apical ballooning and reversible LV asynergy in the absence of significant coronary artery disease. This syndrome usually presents clinically as acute myocardial infarction (MI). However, in contrast to acute MI, Tako–Tsubo cardiomyopathy has a benign outcome with full reco...

Clinical utility of Doppler echocardiography and tissue Doppler imaging in the estimation of left ventricular filling pressures: A comparative simultaneous Doppler-catheterization study.

BACKGROUND Noninvasive assessment of diastolic filling by Doppler echocardiography provides important information about left ventricular (LV) status in selected subsets of patients. This study was designed to assess whether mitral annular velocities as assessed by tissue Doppler imaging are associated with invasive measures of diastolic LV performance and whether additional information is gaine...
